s Special Customers: Japanese Lake Bird
This huge Uchiwa fan is made of Washi rice paper with 100 bamboo struts and has a wooden handle. It includes a display holder with tassels. The obverse is a painging of a lake bird by renown painter Shigeo Iwasawa and the
reverse is plain white with Takashimaya’s logo. These fans were comissioned annually by Kyoto’s department store chain and given to "Otokui-Sama”
special customers. This one is from the late 1980s but the exact date is unknown.
