First built in 1913, the Hotel Paris - Lyon Palace, welcomed guests with it's carved stonework facade and ornate green and gold portico.  From the sidewalk to the sky this early 19th century Hotel epitomized French opulence.
Occupying the street of Rue De Lyon, the Palacel has been a staple of the city for over a century.
In the hotel's former dining hall, one Josephine Baker used to entertain guests with song.
Sold to the Holiday Inn corporation in 1996, the Paris Hotel still exudes the charm and elegance that it had when it was first built.
But the Holiday inn is not handing out luggage labels these days.
No, long gone are the days of a bellhop adhering a label to your luggage as a souvenir of your stay.
This ~4.75"x 3.25" luggage tag appears to be a very early example.  With its distinctive graphic design and two-tone green coloring printed on a fiber-flecked paper, this label defines simple elegance.
With one of these stuck to the side of your steamer trunk there would be no doubt that you were well traveled.
Not without defect, this roughly 100-year-old luggage tag shows a bit of wear along the edges which I have highlighted in the final three photographs.
I picked up this label because in my hand it felt like early French sophistication, and possibly it might feel the same in yours.
I'm real glad you stopped in✌️
