The old Folding Fans shop in Kyoto appointed the title of "Ami"(person with the aim for becoming Buddha) , and the name of "Kyosendo" was also familiar to people in Kyoto under the name "Shinami Kyosendo". Kyosendo ancestor was a samurai serving the domain of Toyama Uozu, . After he joined Ishiyama Honganji-war (1570 ~ 1580) at the Age of Civil War, he served Hongan-ji, one of the most powerful Buddhism temple at that time. He pursued learning of making folding fans under the “Mochi-ami” that was fan making factory in the Teramachi doori Gojo street and then opened Kyosendo in 1832.
