    This is one of, if not, THE earliest
    BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN
    music items ever offered. This is an original business card from his first-ever band, THE CASTILES.  Bruce joined The Castiles in early July of 1965, recorded a few songs with them, and they reportedly played around 160 or so gigs in their history before the band broke up in August of 1968, when Bruce formed the band Earth.  Gordon "Tex" Vinyard only had a small number of cards printed and they were only used in 1966-67.  Only 5 or 6 of them are known to have survived.
    The business card lists Gordon Vinyard as Management.  Gordon, know as Tex, and Marion Vinyard
    sponsored young bands in Brick Township, New Jersey.  The card lists Tex's home phone number with the printed notation to only call "After 5 p.m." as he only handled band business after his regular gig working at a factory.
    Springsteen led this band while still a student at Freehold High School in Freehold Borough, NJ.  This is the first business card relating to Bruce's career in music.  According to the top collectors that I have spoken with over the years only 5 or 6 of these cards are known to have survived.  This has been in my personal collection for over 15 years.
    It measures 3 1/2 x 2 inches and is in VG+++ condition.  The front is Near Mint with no visible wear or damage.  The back side (pictured in my scans) exhibits the remnants of four tiny pieces of tape.
